a cup of... Anticipation

Living Water

O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. - Psalm 95:1

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise:  be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.  For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations. - Psalm 100:4-5

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. - Psalm 122:1

Thirst-quenching thought for the day

Some call it "the Sabbath blues."  After a late Saturday night, Sunday morning comes too early, and the prospect of getting up, dressing up, and showing up for church seems very unappealing.  Yet we often drag ourselves (and our families) there and force ourselves to go through the motions of worship.

According to these psalms, however, church services should be occasions of joy where we fill the air with thankful praise.  We should have a sense of anticipation as we prepare to gather in God's presence.

This positive, joyful attitude comes from realizing that God is good, that His love is deep, strong, and personal, and that He is faithful and true.

Understanding that God loves us, remembering what He has done for us, and knowing that we are His people should make us want to shout and sing with joy.  What a great God we have!

Sip to take away

Next Sunday, approach worship with thanksgiving and praise.  Take time on Saturday to anticipate meeting with other believers.
